Practitioners at Middle Country Medical Care are specialized in treating all kind of bone and joint problems. Here are few of the most common problems that are effectively treated at our medical facility-

Arthritis

Arthritis is known to be the most chronic problem that can affect people of any age, including children. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis, among which osteoarthritis is the most common one. It is a degenerative joint disease, in which the cartilage defending the bone ends wears away.

Anti-inflammatory medications and devices are used to relieve stress on joints. Daily exercise regimen, weight loss for patients with obesity, and cortisone injections may are very helpful. Orthopedic surgery such as joint replacement may be the last alternative to restore function and relieve pain in serious cases.

Sprains

Sprain is a common type of injury that causes stretch and/or tears of ligaments, usually occurring when joints are taken beyond their functional range of movement. Different patients may experience different symptoms depending on the location and severity of the damage. This injury can be graded on a scale from one to three based on its condition. Grade 1 sprains are usually mild, whereas Grade 3 involves a full tear in the ligament and most the times require immediate treatment.

Fracture Care

A break or crack in bone that occurs when the bone is not able to withstand outside forces is a fracture. Fractures can be of different types, starting from a tiny crack in the bone to complete separation. There can be different causes for fractures such as fall, motor vehicle accidents and sport injuries. People with many disorders such as low bone density, bone tumors, cancer or brittle bone disease are at higher risk of fractures.

Different types of fractures include:

Stress Fracture

It is the result of overuse, due to which, bone gets weak and cannot handle the pressure that is put on it. It commonly occurs in the lower leg and foot.

Compression Fracture

It generally happens in the old age. Patients with osteoporosis are at high risk, as their bones lose calcium.

A bone fracture is easy to diagnose as it causes pain, swelling and occasionally bruising on the affected area.

Incomplete (Greenstick) Fracture

It is a fracture that occurs when the bone bends and does not break actually. It generally occurs in kids with enough calcium’s in their bones.

Comminuted Fracture

It is a condition when a bone cracks into several fragments due to high pressure.

At Middle Country Medical Care, we provide best possible treatment for all kinds of bone and joint problems.

Treatment for bone fracture depends on numerous factors such as location and type of fracture along with the medical history of the patient.
